It is predicted that SNAP Benefits will be cut off on November 1st, leaving many in our community with a food crisis of not being able to provide for their families. We are commanded several times in the Bible to “feed the hungry” and we hope to do this in conjunction with offering prayer and encouragement from God’s Word.
Here are 2 ways that we, as a church body, can be involved in helping those who are facing a need during this time.
-
Financially sponsor groceries for a family. For families within our church body, the South Garden Neighborhood, and our Neighbor’s Ministry Program, we want to come alongside them in a meaningful way by helping cover their groceries for an interim period. If you would like to financially sponsor a week’s worth of groceries for a family, you can either make a donation to the benevolence fund (and we will purchase the groceries) or, if you would prefer to have direct contact with a family, please reach out to Morgan Paddock.
-
Provide a shelf stable meal in a bag! We expect an increase in calls and walk-ins needing food assistance. While we can’t replace grocery funds for everyone, we can do something to help. Please choose a recipe from the file below and place the ingredients in a Ziploc freezer bag along with the recipe card. Bags can be dropped off on Sundays at the cart by the Guest Info tent or Monday–Thursday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., at the cart on the Gardens Building porch.
